Xie George Xu (born June 13, 1962 in Wuhan, China) is a professor with the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After receiving a PhD. in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University, he joined RPI in 1995, where he soon received the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 1999. He is currently a Full Professor of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics.[1]

Xu heads the Rensselaer Radiation Measurement and Dosimetry Group (RRDMG) at RPI, and is most well known for his work in computerized simulation of the effect of radiation on the human body, particularly the development of computational human phantom models. He is also the founding director of the Center for Engineering-Based Patient Modeling.
